Texas District To Adopt New LMS for Better Tech Integration

The Crowley Independent School District, with 15,000 students, is adopting a new learning management system (LMS) in an effort to improve technology integration. The decision was made by a committee of principals, teachers, district administrative staff and IT.
The Blackboard Learn LMS will be used within the Fort Worth-area district, according to a note on its technology site, to "distribute information, files, assignments, textbooks (if available digitally), trainings, communications, collaboration, online classrooms, etc."
"Crowley ISD prides itself on its progressive approach to integrating teaching and learning technologies in our classrooms to not only help our students succeed today, but also to prepare them for future success in college and the workforce," said Jerry Allen, director of technology, in a statement. "Blackboard enables us to utilize a consistent platform that makes it easy for our teachers to deliver digital content and learning activities that students can use at school, at home and on the go."
The district uses Skyward as its student information system, and the new deal includes integration between the SIS and the LMS.
The adoption will also ease the transition for students who choose to take dual credit courses or teachers and other staff taking continuing education courses at a nearby campus of Tarrant County College, which is also a Blackboard customer.
