Polar 3D Launches 3D Printer and Collaboration Platform for K-12

Polar 3D has launched a 3D printer, also called Polar 3D, along with a Web-based collaboration platform designed specifically for students in grades 6-12.

The free platform, Polar Cloud, includes tools for collaboration, design, assignments and lab management and features a "club-based" format designed to allow "teachers to group students by subject and users to find groups with mutual interests," according to a news release. "Within the Polar Cloud, users collect and share objects to print using in-site CAD software to alter and adjust their .stl files."

The 10.3-pound printer can print objects up to eight inches in diameter and 6 inches high, for a volume of 300 cubic inches.

"We built this printer and its supportive Polar Cloud social platform not to change how entrepreneurs think, but rather to inspire students to think like entrepreneurs," said William Steele, Polar 3D co-founder, in a news release. "We want students to go to the Cloud to see what they can do."

The suggested retail price for a Polar 3D printer is $799. Schools and students can purchase the device for $599. More information about Polar Cloud is available at cloud.polar3d.com. Go to polar3d.com to learn more about the Polar 3D printer.
