Modo Labs Introduces New Messaging Platform

Mobile engagement company Modo Labs today released Modo Communicate, an extension to its mobile platform that can simultaneously deliver push notifications, in-app banner messages, text messages and e-mail from a central administration system.

While Modo's platform has long been able to deliver messages to app users based on their locations and roles, Modo Communicate extends that capability, enabling message authors to target specific sets of end users with a particular communication. "These groupings can be mixed, matched and intersected to target an unlimited number of message recipient combinations," according to a press release.

Messages can be scheduled months in advance, and message authoring rights can be delegated across an organization. A workflow and approval process allows messages to be vetted according to an institution's standards.

Additional features include:

  • Multiple message delivery options, such as push notifications and/or in-app banners;
  • Deep linking, where a message can send end users to any screen within the mobile app or trigger a new app experience; and
  • Message center, which gives app users a unified place to view all of the messages they've received across different channels and by notification types.

Modo Communicate, along with Modo Labs' app assembly platform, is designed to allow non-developers to "quickly and easily provide a full spectrum mobile experience," according to the company. As explained in a press release, "Modo Labs' flagship product, Kurogo Mobile Campus, accesses and quickly mobilizes any data source or dynamic feed, such as maps, social media, news, videos or transit information. Kurogo Publisher empowers non-developers to create or enhance their native apps with unique, one-of-a-kind modules for any special purpose or event. Modo Communicate completes the experience by ensuring that mobile apps created on the platform become a central communication hub for the entire organization."

"Taken together, Modo Labs unique combination of data access, ease-of-use, and communication capabilities provide an exceptional level of mobile functionality," said Stewart Elliot, Modo Labs CEO, in a prepared statement. "Modo Labs is committed to enabling its customers, no matter their level of technical skill, to become mobile superstars within their organization, with minimal investment of time and resources."
