New Mexico ED Selects Formative Assessment Provider for Grades K-3

The New Mexico Public Education Department has selected a partner to provide formative assessments in reading for students in grades K-3.

The department chose Istation's Indicators of Progress (ISIP) assessment. Available in both English and Spanish, the assessments will be available to districts and schools at no charge. The assessments are designed to be administered to an entire class in a computer lab setting in approximately 30-40 minutes with individual subtests ranging from three to 10 minutes in length. ISIP also features instant scoring, a range of reports and more than 2,500 lessons designed to support teachers in targeting instruction.

"ISIP provides reliable data with frequent, age-appropriate measurement for students in prekindergarten-third grade," according to a news release. "While adjusting to each student's reading ability, the interactive assessment keeps developing readers engaged and provides educators with the data they need to help students grow."

"We are honored to be chosen as a partner with New Mexico public schools," said Richard H. Collins, Istation chairman and CEO, in a prepared statement. "Students and teachers across New Mexico will now have access to technology that can assist teachers and help all students enhance their reading proficiency."
