Tennessee Revamping K-12 Digital Resources Library

The state of Tennessee is revamping its Digital Resources Library project. The new version of the library will be hosted on Thrivist, an online application that pegs itself as a learning management system for blended schools. The collection will be managed and built up by the Tennessee Book Company, a division of Ingram Content Group.

The repository is intended to help teachers identify curriculum, including courses and ebooks, some that are free and others that come with a price tag. Currently, the library covers 10 different subjects, from algebra to world history. The Tennessee Book Company plans to expand the current library, add videos and do mapping of curriculum with Tennessee learning standards. School districts that use the repository will pay a fee.

The initial version of the library project was a joint project involving five organizations in the state: The Tennessee School Boards Association, the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents, the Tennessee Education Technology Association, the Tennessee Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the American Public Education Foundation.
