Snagit Update Adds Tools for Isolating Text, Other Image Elements

Techsmith has announced the latest edition of its screen capture and image editing software, Snagit 2018, with updates designed to help users modify specific elements of images.

Features new to this version include:

  • Grab Text, which allows users to extract the text in a screen capture or file. Once they've grabbed it, users can paste the text right into a document for easy editing;
  • Smart Move is a tool that allows users to easily isolate objects in a captured image and move, delete or otherwise edit them;
  • Text Replace, which allows users to change the font, size or color of text in screenshots without otherwise changing the image;
  • A higher frame rate for the desktop video recorder and higher webcam image quality and stability; and
  • Reduced CPU usage.

"This is the most powerful version of Snagit we've ever created," said Wendy Hamilton, CEO of TechSmith, in a prepared statement. "Snagit 2018 allows you to quickly and easily create compelling, easy-to-understand visual content that clearly demonstrates processes, how-tos and other information so that everyone can get more done in less time."

Users with previous versions of Snagit can upgrade to Snagit 2018 for $24.99. Snagit 2018 is available to new users for $49.99. For more information, go to the Techsmith site.
