Deadline Looms for 2 Classroom Grants Offering $2,500 and $500 for Teachers 

Two important grant deadlines are coming up for K–12 teachers looking to fund classroom materials, one offering $500 per classroom, the other offering up to $2,500 per classroom. Both programs will award grants to multiple teachers.

The Farmer's Insurance Thank America's Teachers program will provide up to 60 teachers with up to $2,500 apiece. The goal of the program is to "fund programs that make technology more accessible to students, provide literacy materials to improve reading comprehension and support training that prepares kids to become the future leaders of their communities and the nation." A description of past winners is available here to help guide new applicants. Applications are being accepted now. Proposals are due Sept. 27. Rules and an online application can be found here.

A second program, administered through the Association of American Educators Foundation, is offering up to $500 per classroom for virtually any type of classroom need, from software to lab materials to books to art supplies. This is a competitive grant program offering multiple awards. The specific number of awards will vary. Applications are being accepted now. The deadline is Oct. 1.
