Lexia Adds Auto-Placement to English Language Development Program

Lexia has rebranded its K–6 instructional tool Rosetta Stone English to Lexia English Language Development and brought in new tools to help English language learners gain proficiency in English. Lexia's parent company, Cambium Learning Group, divested itself of the Rosetta Stone languages division earlier this year.

As part of the rebranding, Lexia launched version 2.0 of Lexia English. The new version add two key new features:

  • An automatic placement tool, which assesses new students' proficiency in receptive and productive language skills to determine where they should enter the program;

  • New support for digital teacher-led speaking lessons to support remote and hybrid learning.

“While the product’s name and look have changed, its curriculum remains the same,” said Lexia President Nick Gaehde in a prepared statement. “In addition to renaming the product, we’re releasing version 2.0, which contains new tools to help Emergent Bilingual students as they learn academic English and empower educators to streamline instruction and ensure their efficacy.” ("Emergent bilingual students" is the term Lexia uses for English language learners.)

Lexia English is available on the web and in an app for iOS. An Android app is expected later this year.

Further details can be found on Lexia's site.
