Late Breaks...SurfControl

SurfControl, an Internet filtering company, now offers schools that qualify for federal e-rate funds a kit to help them comply with a provision of the Children’s Internet Protection Act that requires public hearings. The kit is designed for technology coordinators, educators and other school officials who have applied for federal funds to pay for the wiring of schools. The Children’s Internet Protection Act, which recently took effect, requires schools linking to the Internet to implement Internet filtering technology to protect students from inappropriate and obscene material. The kit includes an Internet safety policy implementation guide, presentation and companion script, templates for town meeting invitations and press releases, relevant articles and case studies, and handouts for parents. In addition, the kit contains 100 pass-along Cyber Patrol demonstration password cards that give access to a trial of Cyber Patrol 5.0 filtering software for the home.
