Canvas Forges Partnerships to Bring New Content to K–12 Classrooms

Canvas, the online learning management system by Instructure, is partnering with several standards-aligned content providers to enable teachers to easily pull content into their classrooms.

Knowing that finding good K–12 content can be difficult, the Canvas team is working with content providers who produce vetted material specifically for K–12 settings, such as Discovery Education, BrainPOP, Nearpod, Knovation, cK–12, Boundless, Florida Virtual School and GPA Learn.

“Educators spend considerable time and energy searching for content that will not only fit into their curriculum, but engage their students,” said Melissa Loble, vice president of partners and platforms at Instructure, in a prepared statement. “At Instructure, we want to reduce this selection time so teachers can devote their attention to their students’ learning and individual needs.”

Canvas’ partnership with Discovery Education will allow teachers and students to access Discovery Education’s streaming services and their math, social studies and science digital textbooks, or Techbooks.

BrainPOP will provide its K–8 interactive content in reading, language comprehension and science. Nearpod is an app that allows teachers to create digital lesson plans, share those plans with students during class and track individual progress.
