The new tool is integrated with the company's TeachPoint Educator Evaluation Solution and is designed to allow users to incorporate video observation into any part of their educator evaluation process, such as self-evaluation, peer coaching or formal observations.
Preschool teachers in the United States are not as comfortable with science as they are literacy, according to researchers at Michigan State University.
Administered by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), the academy is designed to help improve the confidence of teachers with students in grades 5-8 as they science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) topics.
Both San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) and Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) are continuing their existing partnerships with the SF-based cloud computing company, and will receive $7 million and $5.2 million respectively.
The badges are based on the Open Badge standards and will be issued to users as they are awarded grades to be displayed or otherwise shared.
The partnership will also allow districts to track and manage PD payments across the entire district and to simplify offering PD to neighboring districts.
While states have all kinds of requirements laying out how teachers should be prepared for the classroom, they don’t often give back information on how those teachers do in the classroom that could lead to improvements in their educator preparation programs.

Ten middle school science teachers were recently selected for a professional development and networking program led by researchers and education leaders in Kentucky that aims to reach and inspire future scientists.
To jump start a discussion on teacher PD, the NEA (National Education Association) and professional learning companies Corwin and Learning Forward conducted a survey of more than 6,300 teachers nationwide.
A new badging feature has been added to Performance Matters’ Professional Development Management solution, enabling school districts to define, create, manage and issue badges for teacher PD.
