Mathematica 3.0 Adds Many Features

The first major new version of Mathematica in several years, 3.0 strengthens the core computational abilities of Mathematica and adds some revolutionary new features. The program's numerical computation capabilities have been enhanced with adaptive precision control; numerical differentiation; machine- independent mechanisms for input and output of numbers without loss of precision and much more. Algebraic computation, mathematical functions, graphics capabilities, input and output, notebook interface, system interface and programming, and core system elements have all been thoroughly enhanced. Standard add-on packages include symmetric polynomials; primitive roots for arbitrary algebraic extensions; numerical residue and series computations; data smoothing and filtering, among others.
