Inner-City Games Foundation Receives Software Gift

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Inner-City Games (ICG) Foundation is a nationwide program providing opportunities for inner-city youth to participate in sports, educational, cultural, and community enrichment programs. One such program is a Computer Camp that enables inner-city middle-school students to learn computer skills while enhancing their academic skills during after-school hours or over the summer.

Knowledge Adventure recently donated over $2 million in software to ICG. The donation includes seven ClassWorks Gold systems and 2,000 software site licenses, which will help approximately one million ICG students hone their computer skills. The ClassWorks Gold open-learning system consists of 150 educational software titles from 20 different publishers, contained in a complete math and language arts curriculum.

During the programs, students have the opportunity to experiment with computers and learn basic keyboarding. Math and language arts software helps students build academic skills, and programs such as SiteCentral help students experiment with creating Web sites. Students can use multimedia authoring and presentation programs such as HyperStudio to create environmental projects, public service announcements, or other presentations.

Knowledge Adventure has been a sponsor of the ICG Foundation since 1998. Knowledge Adventure, Torrance, CA, (310) 793-0600, www.knowledgeadventure.com.
