Videocraft Releases 'Start Editing Now!' Classroom Edition

01.02.2007—Videocraft Workshop has released its "Start Editing Now!" Classroom Workshop Edition, a suite of tools designed to help educators teach the fundamentals of video editing. It's available now for Mac OS X and Windows.

Start Editing Now! consists of a two-DVD set and instructional materials that guide the teacher through the components of the program—including methods for implementing the system in the classroom. It contains a video explanation and overview of the lessons along with complete printable lesson plans for each tutorial and additional enrichment activities.

The first DVD in the set includes interactive lessons, workshops with lesson plans and various activities. These are designed to help students develop an understanding of core video editing skills, including cuts, dialog editing and scene pacing. Disc 2 includes more than 150 professionally shot video clips, which the students can use to practice the skills learned on Disc 1. The footage is designed to create challenges for the learner.

"Editing is all about making choices, and making choices means having choices," said Bill Davis, founder of Videocraft Workshop. "Many times, the first thing instructors do is send their students out in the field to shoot footage that will then be used to practice editing skills. The problem is that the students' footage may not be the best for learning specific editing skills. Start Editing Now! Classroom Workshop Edition provides instructors and students with professionally shot footage that is royalty-free and fun to work with."

Videocraft's Start Editing Now! Classroom Workshop Edition is available for $129.95 with support for Mac OS X and Windows systems. It's designed to be used in conjunction with common video editing systems.
