2/12/2007—Altair Learning Management has debuted IQity Learning Suite, a distance learning system for grades 9 through 12.

The Linux-based IQity comprises both a learning management system (LMS) and a content suite that serves as the learning system's curriculum. The LMS includes features like online grading, student tracking, assessments, data migration, content sharing, and ad-hoc reports. It includes instructor tools that allows for customization of the workspace. And it also offers various communications technologies built in, such as e-mail, forums, calendars, and real-time chat, among other features.

The curriculum materials from Class.com include a range of subjects: math, biology, physics, chemistry, foreign languages, English, and history, all of which incorporate graphics and video.

Other features include:

  • IQity Liveboard, a tool for students to interact with teachers "live;"
  • Ohio Graduation Practice Test and Study Guide; and
  • Monitoring features.

According to the company, IQity does not require any special software beyond a Web browser and various standard plugins, and it does not require investment in servers or databases. Pricing for the IQity Learning Suite varies by configuration.
