San Francisco Teachers Get Education in Web 2.0

Teachers from the San Francisco Unified School District's Academy of Information Technology met with industry experts to learn how they could apply Web 2.0 tools and services in the classroom. The workshop featured presentations by people from Google, MySpace, CNET, Electronic Arts, and YouTube, among others, to explore the ways digital media can enhance teaching and improve professional skills for students.

"Today's business community demands employees who can navigate and innovate in a Web 2.0 environment," said the district in a statement. "Tuesday's training day will increase the tools teachers have to help students develop the critical thinking, problem solving, and technology skills necessary for success in the 21st century."

The company representatives led participants in hands-on activities including blogging, online video, social networking, podcasts, search engines, and video games.
