SunGard Adds Instructional Management to Education Suite

SunGard has recently announced the acquisition of K-12 instructional management software provider Performance Pathways.

According to SunGard, Performance Pathways will become a part of SunGard Public Sector's K-12 Education business unit and will extend the Plus Solutions suite of products. Currently, the Plus suite includes special education, financial and human resources management, and student information management systems.

"Integrating Performance Pathways products with the Plus Solutions suite will allow SunGard to offer a unique value proposition to our K-12 school district customers--a unified system for student, instructional and financial management," said Frank Lavelle, president of SunGard Public Sector's K-12 business unit, in a prepared statement. "Performance Pathways offers a full cycle of instructional management solutions with proven performance and brings a team with strong domain knowledge to SunGard Public Sector."

According to the company, SunGard serves more than 25,000 customers in more than 70 countries. SunGard Public Sector provides software applications for the K-12 education, pubic administration, and public safety markets. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
