AVerMedia Launches 720p Videoconferencing Systems

AVerMedia has rolled out two new high-definition videoconferencing systems, both offering 720p/30 HD video, content sharing capabilities, and support for a wide range of standards and formats.
The new models include the AVerComm HD100 and AVerComm HD300. They offer a native 1,280 x 720 video resolution at 30 frames per second (720p/30) with a 5 megapixel camera that includes a 7x optical zoom and pan and tilt capabilities. Other features common to both models include:
- VGA, S-video, and composite video input and output, along with RCA audio input and output;
- Noise suppression, automatic gain control, and echo cancellation;
- An embedded 10 watt speaker;
- Automatic saving of last camera position;
- Single- and dual-monitor display support;
- RJ-45 and USB connectivity;
- Video standard support includes H.264, H.263, H.263+, H.261, and dual-stream H.239; and
- For audio, support includes G.711, G.722, G.722.1, G.728, and G.722.1C.
The higher-end model, the HD300, which offers all of the features of the HD100, plus high-resolution still image capture and sharing, full recording capabilities, and a four-way multipoint control unit (for connecting multiple sites to one or more conferences simultaneously).

In other AVerMedia news, the company has extended the deadline for its classroom makeover contest to Nov. 5. The contest allows classes to submit two-minute videos about how AVerMedia gear has been useful as a classroom learning tool.
Three prizes will be awarded in the contest, including a grand prize offering $2,000 cash, an AVerVision 355AF document camera, an AVerPen Class Pack, and an AVerComm H300 video conferencing system. Second place will receive a $1,000 cash award, plus an AVerVision 355AF document camera, an AVerPen Class Pack, and an AVerComm H100 video conferencing system. Third place will receive a $500 cash award, plus an AVerVision CP355 document camera, an AVerPen starter pack, and an AVerComm H100 video conferencing system.
