Tinkerine Debuts Introductory 3D Printing Curriculum for K-12

3D printer maker Tinkerine Studios is launching a new curriculum designed to supplement STEAM courses and introduce students to 3D printing technology.

The curriculum, called Tinkerine U, is being developed in partnership with Ready Labs, an education technology company co-founded with Vancouver’s Simon Fraser University. In particular, it focuses on the design, prototyping, and manufacturing processes using 3D printing technology through online courses, lesson plans and a 3D model library. Extra curricular materials for students will also be available.

"We know that 3D printing in the classroom is the centerpiece to a comprehensive active learning approach, where students learn the problem solving skills to become the leaders of the future," said Kevin Brandt, the initiative’s new managing director, in a statement. "As a company, Tinkerine remains committed to making 3D printing affordable and accessible to schools, teachers, and students anywhere in the world. Now with Tinkerine U, we can ensure that these powerful technologies are also actually useful in every classroom, and don't just gather dust."

The curriculum will be available in Canada, where the company is based, as well as in select districts in the US.
