Cricket Media Debuts E-Mentoring Program
Cricket Media has introduced CricketTogether, an e-mentoring platform connecting students with carefully screened adult role models. The announcement was made at the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) conference in San Antonio, TX.
Cricket
Media has partnered with companies whose employees can volunteer to
mentor a student in grades 3 to 5. The e-mentor and student each read a
Cricket Media article independently. The students then discuss the
article with their classmates. And finally, the e-mentor and student
exchange online letters about the topic.
According to the
company, CricketTogether creates an environment where students can
learn about content that interests them and receive guidance and build
friendships with their e-mentors.
The program is free for
teachers to use with their students and is sponsored by corporations
who encourage their employees to volunteer as mentors. Corporate and
community partners, as well as teachers who want their students to
participate in the program during the 2017-2018 school year, can apply
through the CricketTogether site.
