Maryland Educator Named School CIO of the Year

Porter, deputy superintendentfor StrategicTechnologies and Accountabilityfor Montgomery County PublicSchools in Rockville, MD, wasnamed School CIO of the Yearby Public CIO magazine andSchoolNet (www.schoolnet.com)at the EduStat Summit in June.Porter was unanimously chosenby a panel of judges for his initiativesto launch a system in 2001 tohelp support improvement planswithin his district’s 192 schools, aswell as for increasing the availabilityof reliable, up-to-date technologyto teachers and students.
