Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in Teaching Grants for High School Teachers: Deadline is Aug. 15

Aug. 15 is the deadline to apply for the National Society of High School Scholars’ Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Teaching Grant, for educators who serve in rural areas, diverse student populations, or are “actively promoting diversity and inclusion initiatives in their school or greater community.”

The five grants of $1,500 apiece are open to any high school teacher currently employed at a public or private high school in the United States.

Applicants should provide their school’s demographics and explain how the funds will directly benefit their students, NSHSS said. Funds may be used for supplies, materials, field trips or other resources to enhance the delivery of courses.

The application process requires a “prompt response” of 500-800 words to the question: “How important is diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and beyond?” NSHSS encourages applicants to also upload photos, videos, or links to media showing the educator’s leadership in action. Also required to apply is a color headshot, a resume, and a letter of recommendation from a principal or administrator.

Learn more and apply at the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Teaching Grant page at the NSHSS website. Applications close at 11:59 p.m. ET on Aug. 15.
